Dalbeattie:

Steadstone Quarry Garden, on the A710 Coast road about a  mile or so from Dalbeattie, will be open for one weekend only, May 26 and 27 2007,courtesy of Mr and Mrs Kinnaird, the owners, and the proceeds will go to a good cause. The garden is a unique and colourful example of what can be achieved in what was a granite quarry, and the beautiful and well cared for plants are on several levels. The cost of entry is £2 and all money raised will go to the Blair Centre in Dalbeattie, which is a meeting and activity Centre for young people between the ages of 8 and 12. Well worth a visit.

Threave Gardens: From the A75 near Castle Douglas.  The mild climate has given rise to many specialist gardens in this area which are open to the public. Threave’s spectacular gardens have been created over the years by students of the National Trust’s School of Practical Gardening.
