Eating out is usually a pleasure, no matter what kind of food you like. Whether it is a formal meal in a smart restaurant, or relaxing in an intimate bistro, or even if you just like fish and chips as you walk along, it's all here or hereabouts.

Within Dalbeattie itself the range of eating places includes Italian, Chinese, Indian and good old pub grub, not to mention fast food takeaways like fish and chips, kebabs, pizza etc.Only a few miles away the town of Castle Douglas has a similar range of restaurants, hotels and eateries. If you are prepared to travel a bit further Dumfries is 14 miles from Dalbeattie, and there you will find a variety of places to eat.

If you prefer to eat in the countryside many of the local villages ( Kippford, Palnackie, Auchencairn ) have good pub food, and are all within a short drive distant, as are some country hotels which do excellent meals.
